USA-based heavy haulage specialist Berard Transportation has handled the delivery of multiple concrete sump sections from a Baton Rouge fabricator to a barge on the Mississippi River.
Units weighed up to 220,000 lbs (100 tonnes) and measured up to 18 ft (5.5 m) tall.
After locating a suitable truck to barge transfer site, Berard engineers worked alongside the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) to find a feasible route through the streets of Louisiana’s capital city.
With the route selected, Berard deployed Goldhofer THP/SL and Faymonville nine-axle HighwayMAX trailers to transport the modules to the site. Once at the waterfront dock, 10-axle Goldhofer PST-SLE transporters were used to shuttle the components near to a floating crane for loading.
