USA-based heavy haulage specialist Berard has loaded out two topside decks for a South Texas fabricator.
The decks weighed 2,213 tons (2,008 tonnes) and 2,480 tons (2,250 tonnes). In total, Berard deployed 116 axle lines of SPMTs as well as eight power packs to lift and transport the decks through the fabricator’s yard to the bulkhead for load out.
A 90-degree turn was required to position the units for the roll on operation. A series of barge ramps were configured to ensure ground support as well as to allow the SPMTs to climb to barge deck level.
Once ballast operations commenced, the team began the process of slowly transferring the decks on to the barge and into final position.
Berard completed the loading operations in three days, putting the client ahead of schedule.
