The boiler weighed 120 tonnes and had a length of 11.6 m and a diameter of 3.5 m, so a tandem lift using the two Tadano AC 5.220-1 was necessary.

The boiler was lifted to a height of one m so that a 12-axle lowbed trailer – with a four-axle tractor below – could be placed underneath, ready for it to be lowered onto the trailer, before being transported to Türkiye. With a required radius of 13 m, the cranes were positioned and then rigged the load.

The two cranes were set up with a counterweight of 71 tonnes and a boom length of 21.6 m.

“Thanks to painstaking preparation and perfect teamwork when carrying out the tandem lift, everything went exactly as planned,” said Detlef Precht, head of department at Auto-Service Safar.

Hendrik Eich, owner of Auto-Service Safar added: “The AC 5.220-1 has already proven itself in our fleet for a long time and is an essential part of our machine park. We are very satisfied with this machine and also appreciate the many years of successful partnership with Tadano.”
