Freight forwarder AsstrA Associated Traffic has coordinated the delivery of OBSL modules for Ineos Project One – involving the movement of 100 modules in total.

AsstrA moved eight modules from the port of Bauan, the Philippines, to Antwerp via the Cape of Good Hope. The cargo was delivered on United Heavy Lift’s (UHL) vessel UHL Flair.

Several of the modules measured 39 m x 12 m x 11 m. AsstrA is set to transport around 100 modules – more than 230,000 cu m of cargo – under this contract. This was the company’s first delivery, with further shipments expected monthly until Q2 2025.

“The complexity of this project lies not only in the sheer size and volume of the modules but also in coordinating multi-modal transport over such a vast distance,” said Deanne Williamson, project manager at AsstrA.

”Each module required tailored engineering solutions, from designing custom lifting and securing systems to adapting port operations for oversized cargo. Such precision is crucial to safeguarding the cargo and meeting project deadlines,” added Fernando Sirgo Granda, technical engineer.

The modules being delivered by AsstrA are being used to construct an ethane cracker which is due to have a nameplate capacity of 1,450 knots of ethylene per year. With work commencing in 2023, Ineos expects the project to be wrapped up in 2026.

In January 2025, deugro delivered critical equipment, including 10 storage bullets, from China for Ineos Project One.
