Altius has coordinated delivery of five catamaran moulds, weighing more than 30 tonnes, from the port of Antalya, Türkiye, to a shipyard in Alicante, Spain.
Due to their dimensions, road transport from the commercial port to the shipyard for two of the moulds was not feasible. Altius suggested a solution based on a non-self-propelled modular pontoon, meaning that the units did not need to be split up.
The planning and engineering stage of the project included Altius supplying the relevant maritime authority with the requested stability study of the pontoon along with a towing study based on an official tugboat, which highlighted the extreme draft restrictions for accessing the shipyard.
The two towing trips were executed on the same day, ensuring timely delivery to the shipyard in Alicante.
HLPFI reported last month that Altius had coordinated the delivery of an STS super-post-Panamax crane from Tarragona to Vigo, Spain.
