ALS has coordinated the transport of tunnel boring machine (TBM) sections in London, UK.
The TBM, named Charlotte, had been lifted out of the shaft at King George's Park. ALS arranged for the sections to be moved over two days with a private escort to Dormay Street.
The components included a stationary shell, which measured 2.7 m x 3.4 m x 3.4 m and weighed 45 tonnes; a 50-tonne forward shell, which measured 2.7 m x 3.4 m x 3.4 m; and a tail, which weighed 8 tonnes.
The TBM will soon be used to tunnel a further 600 m as part of the Thames Tideway Tunnel project.
