UK-headquartered Abnormal Load Services (ALS) has completed the transportation of a tunnel boring machine (TBM).
The forward shell weighed 50 tonnes and measured 2.7 m x 3.4 m x 3.4 m. The TBM’s stationary shell measured 3 m x 3.4 m x 3.4 m and weighed in at 45 tonnes.
ALS ensured that the two units were delivered safely to Wandsworth, London. The company also made sure that all the necessary permits were secured to expedite delivery to the project site.
The TBM will play a part in the construction of London’s’ Tideway tunnel – a GBP5 billion (USD6.5 billion) sewer construction project.
