Ro-ro operator Wallenius Wilhelmsen, in combination with its logistics division ALS, is coordinating the port handling and transport of 35,000 cu m of project cargo from Slovenia to Hungary.
In total, five vessels will be used for this project. The fourth vessel arrived at the end of January. Wallenius Wilhelmsen called upon ALS’ operations team to meet the cargo at the port of Koper.
In a separate project, ALS organised the export of a large Komatsu PC490 HRD demolition excavator from the UK. It was shipped on a DFDS vessel and transported from Vlaardingen to BIA Komatsu, Apeldoorn, in the Netherlands.
The unit measured 19.3 m x 3.5 m x 3.7 m and tipped the scales at 69.7 tonnes.
ALS was also busy ensuring the transit of a large mixer and various parts from Italy to Cheshire in the UK earlier in the year. The 5.3-tonne mixer, measuring 12.6 m x 3 m x 3.1 m, was transported using a lowbed semi-trailer. The remaining parts were on a standard truck.
ALS’ scope of work included road transport, securing permits, shipping, organising import clearances, and arranging insurance.
