The absorber measured 25 m in length, 4.4 m in width, and 4.4 m in height, with a weight of 55 tonnes.

The four-year project has involved sensitive cargoes being shipped from Asia by Wallenius Wilhelmsen, with the local landside logistics falling under ALS’ remit.

The first shipment for the project arrived in the USA in the summer of 2023. Since then, the team has successfully transported 36 shipments, varying in size and complexity. These shipments have ranged from just two pieces to over 200 pieces per shipment. An example of the project’s scale is a packing list that included handling 144 packages, collectively weighing over 700 tonnes and occupying more than 6,000 cu m s.

Among the most impressive feats accomplished by the logistics team is the transport of an absorber. This massive component measured 25 m in length, 4.4 m in width, and 4.4 m in height, with a weight of 55 tonnes.

ALS and Wallenius Wilhelmsen said the successes of this project is testament to their collaborative efforts. A broad network and reliable partnerships worldwide facilitate the process for complex cargo movements,” noted Bob Ramaekers - operations manager for ALS.

The logistics operations are scheduled to continue, with the last shipment for the two plants anticipated in Q3/Q4 of 2025.
