ALE has lifted and transported a sulphur storage facility for the Lindsey Oil Refinery in the UK.
The storage system consisted of a concrete pit, weighing 304 tonnes, and a 90-tonne lid.
To lift the units ALE mobilised a gantry system, which includes jacking points that can operate in unison for optimum control and safety. Once the pit was raised, SPMTs were positioned beneath in preparation for onward transportation.
The pit was moved approximately 2 miles (3.22 km) along public roads and across the project site. Due to the smaller size of the lid, ALE said the transport for this component was able to use a much shorter and more direct route.
