Al Faris has moved more than 15 oversized components from Jebel Ali Free Zone to a storage yard in Dubai World Central (DWC) in the UAE as part of an oil refinery project.
The shipment included three sections of a refinery column, measuring 32 m x 11 m x 10 m and weighing up to 315 tonnes.
To move the components, Al Faris utilised 12-axle Goldhofer hydraulic trailers as well as SPMTs.
The biggest challenge for this project, according to Al Faris, was finding a suitable route for the cargoes. Along one of the roads, traffic had to be stopped for 30 minutes in order to allow a convoy of four trailers and six police escort vehicles to pass.
For the offloading process, Al Faris used an Enerpac SBL900 gantry system, which is equipped with two-stage lifting cylinders, enabling lifts up to 11.3 m.
