AAL has transported 135 wind turbine blades - destined for the AGL Silverton wind farm in New South Wales - into the port of Adelaide, Australia.
The blades - which AAL claims are the longest ever to be shipped into the country - were transported in three sailings on board AAL's 31,000 dwt A-class vessels, which were instrumental due to their 40,000 cu m volume and 3,000 sq m deck space. Each ship carried 45 wind turbine blades, turbine generators, and other related components.
AAL said this project is part of an ongoing series of seven renewable energy cargo shipments it is engaged in from Germany, Spain, and China into Australia, in partnership with COLI Schiffahrt & Transport.
Not only were the blades the longest to have ever been shipped into Australia, but this is the first time AAL managed to load and stow 45 of them on a single sailing.
