Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association (SC&RA) has provided comments to the US Department of Transportation (USDOT) after it welcomed feedback from the industry earlier in the year.
USDOT requested comment from businesses within the transport and logistics industries, regarding a national multimodal freight network (NMFN). As part of a comprehensive response, SC&RA outlined the economic significance of specialised transportation and crane and rigging, the operational restraints specific to these industries, plus the modernisation of automated 24/7 auto-issue permitting systems across all 50 states.
In its comments, SC&RA implied that the public, elected representatives and government officials may not fully understand the unique role that the transport and logistics industries play in both the US economy and the global economy.
SC&RA added: “USDOT can better understand the challenges SC&RA members face in their own planning, and in turn incorporate these issues into forthcoming updates.”
