October 29 - The names of Atlantic Container Line's (ACL) new G4 vessels, which are currently under construction, have been revealed.
The new G4 vessels, which ACL says will be the largest ro-ro/containerships in the world, are to be named Atlantic Star, Atlantic Sail, Atlantic Sea, Atlantic Sky and Atlantic Sun.
When construction began in 2013, ACL's parent company, the Grimaldi Group, decided to hold competition among its employees to name the new ships.
The winning names were submitted by customer service representative Andrea Cox.
The ships will replace ACL's existing fleet of G3 ships operating in the company's transatlantic service.
The first G4 will enter service next summer, followed every two months by another ship until the entire ACL fleet is replaced.
