Temporary Works Design (TWD) has developed a monopile sling connector concept, which it claims provides a quick, safe and remote-controlled solution for rigging activities.
The manual labour involved in the handling, transport and installation of monopiles is becoming more challenging, due to their increasing size and weight, said TWD.
The monopile sling connector aims to overcome these challenges – once positioned on the monopile, the system guides the sling around the structure without the need for human interference, said TWD.
During lifting, the load is transferred directly from the sling, through link plates, to the rigging. In between lifts or during transport, the monopile sling connector can be fastened on deck or the monopile itself.
