Metal fabricator Solidd and designer Tetrahedron have completed construction of their new crane, which is tailored for wind energy industry demands.
The Dutch companies have collaborated on the innovative design, with close attention paid to lifting height, capacity at height, lifting radius and jib clearance.
The crane has a lifting capacity of 250 tonnes at a 16 m radius, and 160 tonnes at a 30 m radius. For blade installations, the companies said the model can lift 120 tonnes at 35 m radius to a height of 130 m.
Solidd said that thin-walled high-strength steel and advanced 3D measurements were used to bring about a lightweight, strong and precise product. Solidd was responsible for manufacturing and project management, meanwhile Tetrahedron’s focus was on theoretical aspects of the development.
Boy Biemans, commercial manager at Solidd, said: “We are incredibly proud of what we have achieved together with Tetrahedron… this project proves our capability to successfully bring groundbreaking projects in offshore wind to fruition.”
