Crane manufacturer Tadano is closing its manufacturing facility in Wallerscheid, Germany.
Tadano will shutter its Wallerscheid production facility in Zweibrücken, according to a statement. The items manufactured at Wallerscheid will be moved to the Tadano Demag (TDG) Dinglerstrasse factory, the Tadano Faun (TFG) Lauf factory, and a Tadano facility in Japan.
The Wallerscheid factory was formerly owned by Demag and was amalgamated into the Tadano group when it was acquired from Terex in 2019. Reporting from Vertikal.net citing local sources said that around 400 jobs are to go between now and mid-2025. The company attributed the need to restructure on factors including declining market shares, increasing competitive pressures, and ongoing supply chain problems.
A statement from Tadano Ltd said that, “the intended changes will affect Tadano’s European business operations and are aimed at establishing a framework that maximizes the strength of the company’s combined German and Japanese manufacturing capabilities.”
