Oldcastle Precast, a USA-based manufacturer of precast concrete, has taken delivery of two Shuttlelift Double Beam series rubber-tyred gantry cranes for its operation in Perris, California.
The two DB 90 mobile gantry cranes feature a lifting capacity of 180,000 lbs (81.6 tonnes) each and custom spreader assemblies that allow the cranes to work independently or in tandem.
"The investment in the two Shuttlelift DB 90 gantry cranes allows us to lift a wider variety of products and has given us the versatility needed to become more efficient in our staging and loading area," said Scott Hicks, site manager at the Perris facility. "The custom spreader design lets us be more efficient with current projects and gives us the ability to carry those efficiencies through to future work."
The rubber-tyred gantry cranes are also equipped with features to help with the operation and maintenance of the units. The cab is mounted on the lower side beam opposite the engine compartment with a custom stair system, while low mounted hoists, linkage-less steering, and the remote diagnostic feature all help to keep maintenance costs down, says Shuttlelift.
