The Scheuerle K25 axle lines demonstrated their performance in a 450-tonne ballast test.

The order includes several K25 axle lines as well as a slab deck and frame deck, enabling transportation of transformers and rail vehicles. “After all, we don’t know what challenges we will have to face in the future,” said Helmut Alborn, managing director of August Alborn. “Through the modular K25 axle lines, we are now equipped for accommodating loads of up to around 180 tonnes on the road and up to around 400 tonnes in-house.”

August Alborn opted for modular platform vehicles from TII Scheuerle due to performance levels, cost effectiveness, and stability during use. Despite having 19.5-in (49.5 cm) tyres, the K25 offers a low loading area of 875 mm when lowered, allowing for loads to be easily driven underneath. It has a track width of 2,100 mm paired with an external width of 3,000 mm, providing additional stability.

The load test confirms the high stability and reliability of the K25 solution under real-world conditions.

As part of its scope of work, TII Scheuerle also worked alongside RUD to establish the correct attachment points and frame strength of the latter’s ACP-Turnado lashing points, which August Alborn utilises.

August Alborn specialises in the transport and heavy and bulky loads such as machinery, plant, bridge elements, transformers, and rail vehicles. The company has lifting platforms with a capacity of up to 1,440 tonnes, a fleet of mobile cranes and heavy-duty vehicles, along with its own engineering department.

Last month, UK-headquartered Osprey bolstered its trailer fleet with 88 new SPMTs from TII Scheuerle.
