Germany's Albert Regel has taken delivery of a new Liebherr LTM 1500-8.1 mobile crane, which will replace an older version of the same model.
The specialist in heavy haulage, crane and assembly logistics says the new eight-axle machine comes with telescopic guying and the option of fully disassembling the telescopic boom, and is able to lift up to 500 tonnes.
Alexander Teifke said: "We always had excellent experience with the LTM 1500-8.1 and this is the fifth crane of this class that we're buying from Liebherr.
"We ordered the new 500-tonne crane with telescopic guying, in order to achieve the maximum lifting capacities for its future application in wind energy, as well as bridge building and in conventional industrial operations."
The removable telescopic boom will enable the crane to negotiate bridges with reduced weight limits. Teifke explained that on some routes where the load-bearing capacity of the bridges is reduced, "the approved routes are sometimes twice as long as the direct route to the construction site.
"By disassembling the telescopic boom and reducing the total weight to below 60 tonnes, we're hoping for shorter approval procedures and faster availability of the crane."
