PSG is using the crane to support quayside logistics activities for companies in the marine, offshore oil and gas, and offshore wind energy industries. Manufacturer Manitowoc said that, with PSG having a long history of working with Grove cranes, it was interested in the GRT8100-1 for its efficiency and time-saving benefits, plus its strong pick-and-carry capabilities.

The 100-tonne capacity crane features a 47 m main boom, with up to 72.9 m of maximum tip height when using the optional jib. It is equipped with a value package, which includes a 10.1 m – 17.1 m offsetable bi-fold lattice swingaway extension, a 360-degree mechanical positive swing lock, and an auxiliary hoist package.

Based at the port of Cromarty Firth, PSG provides support services to a diverse range of energy industries. The joint venture will offer heavy lift and transport solutions, load in/out, assembly and port marshalling services. In June 2022, it formed a joint venture with transport engineering specialist Sarens to serve the offshore wind and renewables sector across Scotland.
