November 27 - South African company Marlboro Crane Hire has taken delivery of a Liebherr LTM 1300-6.2 mobile crane.
According to Liebherr, one of the main reasons for Marlboro selecting the LTM 1300-6.2 model was its 78 m telescopic boom. The model also has a 300-tonne lifting capacity.
The new crane fills a gap in the Marlboro fleet, between its existing LTM 1250-6.1 and LTM 1400-7.1 cranes.
Oliver Dalais of Marlboro commented: "A large radius is often required for hoisting work in this class. The long boom on the LTM 1300-6.2 measuring 78 m is therefore a real benefit for us since we will no longer have to fit a folding jib or luffing jib for many jobs."
The six-axle crane is the first crane from Liebherr to feature the innovative single-engine concept, says the manufacturer. The engine in the crane chassis powers the hydraulic pumps in the superstructure via a mechanical shaft.
