March 12 - Manitowoc revealed two new crawler cranes at CONEXPO 2014 - the 300-tonne capacity MLC300 and 650-tonne capacity MLC650.

Both new crawlers feature Manitowoc's variable position counterweight (VPC) system, which automatically positions the counterweight to fit the required lift.

The MLC300 has a 96 m main boom with the option of a fixed jib attachment of 30 m, while the MLC650 features a 104 m main boom to which the same fixed jib can be attached.

Both cranes are ideal for energy-related projects, including refineries, petrochemical installations and power plants, as well as infrastructure applications, explained Manitowoc.

"Customers will be able to lift heavier loads to higher reaches, reduce the time spent preparing the site for lifts, and, ultimately, save money," said John Kennedy, senior vice president of crawler cranes at the company.
