September 21 - Mammoet has completed all the major heavy lift operations for the main construction programme of K+S Potash Canada's Bethune Potash mine in Saskatchewan, Canada.
Mammoet was contracted to lift and install the final 252.8-tonne crystalliser vessel, while the facility maintained partial production.
To do so, Mammoet developed a comprehensive lifting plan and partially deconstructed an adjacent building, to allow the boom section of a Liebherr LR 11350 crawler crane to manoeuvre into position.
The LR11350 subsequently lowered the crystalliser through the roof, where there was less than 0.15 m of clearance.
According to Mammoet, the crystalliser was the final component to be installed to complete the production facilities of the Bethune Potash mine, which was officially opened in May 2017 and commenced production in early June.
