October 9 - MacGregor - the offshore and marine lifting equipment manufacturer and subsidiary of Cargotec Corporation - will supply 20 cranes to Nanjing King Ship Management for four of its newbuild 38,000 dwt general cargo ships.
Five cranes will be installed on each of the vessels, providing a total lifting capacity of 236 tonnes.
The vessels are currently under construction at the Taizhou Kouan Shipbuilding Co Ltd shipyard in China and are scheduled for delivery between late 2014 and early 2015.
"The nature of a general cargo vessel means that the arrangement of the cranes has to deliver high levels of flexibility for loading and discharging an extremely variable cargo profile; we have worked closely with all parties to develop the best configuration." explains Svante Lundberg, sales manager, cranes at MacGregor.
Each vessel will be fitted with one 36-tonne SWL crane with an outreach of 26 m located forward; two twin-GL cranes with a 2x50-tonne SWL capacity and an outreach of 26 m will also be installed.
