November 21 - At its premises in Rostock, Germany, four Liebherr cranes helped lift the manufacturer's new RL-K 7500 subsea crane in preparation for its shipment to Asia.
Two Liebherr LHM 600 mobile harbour cranes and two LG 1750 lattice boom mobile cranes lifted the 665-tonne subsea crane. This was the first time that four cranes had been involved in a single lift at its Rostock facility, claimed Liebherr.
The RL-K 7500 is currently waiting for delivery to Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) at the pier of the Liebherr factory in Rostock. Another Liebherr crane - the RL-K 4200 - will also be delivered to the South Korean shipyard.
DSME plans to equip several ships that it has under construction with a set of Liebherr cranes, consisting of one RL-K 7500 and three RL-K 4200 models.
The new subsea crane with knuckle boom is able to lift up to 300 tonnes, and handle loads down to a water depth of 3,600 m.
