September 16 - Heavy lift crane manufacturer Liebherr's LTM 1350-6.1 has shown its paces on its debut lift for heavy-load expert and forwarder Schmidbauer Group.
The Gräfelfing, Germany-based forwarder was contracted to lift a 15-tonne drying cylinder at the Mondi paper factory in the Bavarian town of Raubling through a narrow opening in the factory roof.
The assembly team fitted out the 350-tonne crane with 100 tonnes of ballast and a luffing jib 42 m long.
It had only been a few days before this that Schmidbauer Group managing director Werner Schmidbauerand purchasing manager Hermann Setzmüller officially took charge of the new mobile crane at the Liebherr plant in Ehingen.
The Schmidbauer Group, with a workforce of 500 personnel, operates a total of 250 cranes. These include telescopic cranes with lifting capacities up to 700 tonnes, and crawler cranes that can handle up to 1,250 tonnes.
