November 27 - Liebherr-Werk Nenzing GmbH has been presented with the 'Crane of the Year' award for its LHM 280 crane at an awards event, organised by International Bulk Journal, and described as 'a salute to excellence in the Maritime Bulk Industry'.
Liebherr was one of three companies shortlisted in the Crane of the Year category.
At the gala presentation evening, Liebherr's senior manager design, Walter Mietschnig, a major driving force behind Liebherr's highly successful mobile harbour crane concept, collected the award.
The LHM 280 was introduced in May 2008 and Liebherr says that it sets new standards in efficiency, reliability and innovation. The crane's flexibility makes it a universal all-rounder and key asset for handling everything, from containers, general cargo to bulk solids. The LHM 280 has a maximum lifting capacity of 84 tonnes and a maximum outreach of 40 m.
