February 24 - Jumbo's heavy lift vessel Fairplayer has completed the subsea installation of a riser at the existing FA platform, for PetroSA's Ikhwezi project offshore South Africa.
The installation of the replacement MEG riser required Jumbo to handle the project engineering, as well as mobilise Fairplayer to South Africa and complete the load out of the riser in Cape Town.
Jumbo also handled the pre-survey and preparations at the FA platform, before the installation, protection and stabilisation of the MEG riser at the PetroSA platform.
Last year, Jumbo also successfully installed subsea structures in the Ikhwezi field, and Fairplayer used the same installation method for this project.
Project Ikhwezi is a plan to prolong the life of the Mossgas plant near Mossel Bay by tapping into gas reserves of the F-O field, which is located 40 km south east of the existing FA platform off the south coast of South Africa.
