Netherlands-based Huisman received orders for two knuckle boom cranes from Norwegian shipping firm Sea1 Offshore.
The cranes, each capable of lifting 250 tonnes, will be installed on Sea1 Offshore’s ST-245-designed offshore energy support vessels.
Huisman’s knuckle boom cranes possess an active heave compensated deepwater main hoist as well as an auxiliary hoist, a main hoist block catcher, a 250-tonne maximum lifting capacity, and a 36-m maximum reach.
Featuring Huisman’s active heave compensation system, the cranes can be configured with the vessel’s DC grid allowing for efficient interaction with its electrical energy storage system. In turn, the net energy consumption of offshore lifting operations is reduced.
“With the current surge in newbuilds in the offshore supply vessel sector, we are witnessing growing demand for high-quality equipment with low energy consumption,” said Cees van Veluw, product director cranes at Huisman. “Huisman’s active heave compensation solutions address these requirements and include our patented technology for seamless interaction with the vessel’s electrical energy storage system.”
