German manufacturer Herrenknecht has added a six-axle Eco1000 self-propelled vehicle from Cometto to its fleet for in-plant transport of tunnel boring machine parts.
Herrenknecht technical manager Stephan Göggel said the unit has fitted into the plant’s work processes seamlessly. “The payload of 260 tones coupled with the fully electronic steering speaks for itself. It allows the concept of transport without cranes to be implemented perfectly.” The self-propelled vehicle’s high axle compensation of 700 mm enables the load to be driven under, picked up and set down elsewhere.
A remote maintenance system was installed into the control cabinet of the vehicle’s power pack by Cometto. This allows operating parameters to be accessed at any time, allowing remote support in the event of a malfunction.
