Dutch engineering consultant Conbit said that its SL900 lifting system is now ready for deployment.
The SL900 has a modular design which allows for onsite assembly and is easy mobilised. It also boasts a 150-tonne lifting capacity, as well as allowing for cost-efficient operations by reducing day rates for mobilisation, standby, demurrage, and use.
The lifting system can be placed anywhere on an offshore facility, with loads carefully introduced to the main structural members of the model, said Conbit. The system is connected to high-speed lift winches following assembly on-site. Once complete, the whole system undertakes rigorous load testing to guarantee reliability.
Conbit has cited existing challenges within offshore brownfield projects, such as module delays and crane vessel contract terminations. The SL900 lifting system, according to the company, can help prevent these obstacles by bringing more predictability and flexibility to a project, reducing budget overshoots and time delays, and gaining greater control over offshore operations.
The development process of the SL900 lifting system began with defining its design parameters, before design and engineering brought the concept to life. DNV then assisted in ensuring the system’s safety and compliance, followed by manufacturing test components to optimise the design. Last of all was full-scale production of the first complete SL900 lifting system along with load testing.
