July 28 - Kuwait based Arabi Enertech has taken delivery of 13 new Grove cranes, the majority of which are being put to use on oil and gas projects in the region.

The crane order included three Grove GMK3055 models, four GMK4080-1 models, four GMK5130-2s, one GMK6300L and one RT530E-2 crane.

The three-axle GMK3055 has a capacity of 55 tonnes and features a 43 m boom; while the 80-tonne capacity GMK4080-1 has a 51 m boom. The Grove GMK5130-2 crane has a 60 m six section main boom; the 300-tonne capacity GMK6300L offers the longest boom in its class at 80 m; and the RT530E-2 has a capacity of 30 tonnes with a 29 m boom.

Khalid Behbehani, chief operating officer at Arabi Enertech, explained that the company selected the cranes to help meet the oil sector's rising demand for heavy equipment.

"As an oil and gas contractor, we require a number of cranes to carry out routine maintenance work on the oil fields and refineries."
