February 27 - Asian Lift has taken delivery of the new floating sheerleg Asian Hercules III in Singapore.
The sheerleg, which is 106 m long, 52 m wide and has a hook height of at least 120 m, has a lift capacity of 5,000 tonnes. It was built at Keppel Nantong which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Singapore's Keppel Offshore & Marine.
Asian Lift is a 50/50 joint venture between Keppel Offshore & Marine and Smit Singapore. It owns and operates five other sheerlegs.
Such cranes are essential equipment for the efficient operations in shipbuilding and offshore construction work.
HLPFI understands that Asian Hercules III's first assignment will be in Singapore.
With the high volume of offshore and marine projects being contracted in Southeast Asia, and with the weight of modules and other components increasing, it is safe to assume that Asian Hercules III will be well placed to meet the needs of the market for greater lifting capacity.
