ALE has installed a 400-tonne bridge over the Burguillo reservoir in central Spain.
Measuring 42 m long and almost 5.6 m wide, the new La Gaznata viaduct bridge’s central span had to be positioned between the two sides of the reservoir.
The day before the operation, ALE performed the floatover by installing 10-tonne capacity winches with cables on both sides of the reservoir.
The span was floated out onto the reservoir and positioned beneath the bridge using 10-tonne capacity winches.
For the lift, two 70-tonne strand jack systems attached to cantilever structures atop the bridge hoisted the span from the water to a height of 20 m, in preparation for installation.
The bridge will improve road connections, mobility and road safety in the Spanish province and is part of an ongoing project to upgrade the N-403 motorway.
