December 7- ALE's Spanish division replaced two oversize engines and one alternator at the Almaraz nuclear power plant.
The two engines each weighed 17.5 tonnes, while the alternator tipped the scales at 18.6 tonnes. The lifting plan was developed in one week, and each component was removed and replaced using the jack and slide method.
Four brackets were installed on the pieces that allowed the jacking. A crane was stationed outside the power plant to remove each piece from the sliding rails. The crane was also used to position new components on the rails, ready to repeat the process in the reverse direction.
