UK-based Ainscough Crane Hire has taken delivery of a Liebherr LR 1700 1.0 crawler crane at its Leyland depot.
The company purchased the new crane in order to enhance its expanding projects division as is seeks broader opportunities within the heavy lift market.
The LR 1700-1.0 offers users a combination of the lower transport costs usually associated with the 600-tonne capacity class cranes, but with the lifting performance of 750-tonne capacity lattice boom models, said Ainscough. The LR 1700-1.0 utilises many of the components used in the smaller crane models but with significantly higher lifting capacities of up to 15 percent thanks to a redesigned static structure.
Ainscough’s model comes with an additional power unit (APU) to power the cabin, the air con and the hydraulic oil pre-heating system, without the requirement for the main engine to be running. The APU also enables the LICCON system to remain active. The resulting decrease in engine idling time significantly reduces fuel consumption and emissions and the lower engine operating hours mean less maintenance work.
Ainscough Crane Hire’s ceo Peter Gibbs said: “The Liebherr LR-1700 1.0 represents the latest design technology within the heavy crane industry and by adding one to our fleet it will give us the flexibility to undertake a wider range of projects with a single crane.”
