Universal Foundation, part of the Fred. Olsen Ocean group, is moving from its facilities in Aalborg to Fredericia, Denmark.
Universal Foundation is focused on the development of the mono-bucket foundation for the offshore wind industry. The concept combines the benefits of a gravity-based foundation, a monopile and a suction bucket.
The company said that the move to Fredericia reflects a shift in the organisation from a research and development-driven group to a fully commercialised operation.
The move will also see three Fred. Olsen companies - Fred. Olsen Windcarrier, Global Wind Service and Universal Foundation – be based at the same location.
“The area around Fredericia gives us better access to our clients and the highly qualified people we need to support our growth. We are confident that our mission to provide the industry a bankable and cost-effective foundation for the next generation of offshore wind turbines will speak to ambitious talents looking to join a truly exciting journey under the Fred. Olsen flag,” said Kristian Ravn, managing director at Universal Foundation.
The relocation of Universal Foundation is expected to be completed by July 2019.
