November 27 - Toll NQX, part of Toll Group, has strengthened its capabilities with the acquisition of heavy haul and lifting specialist Deeson Heavylift.
Toll NQX general manager Greg Smith said the acquisition of Deeson enables Toll NQX to offer a service that combines in-house heavy, bulk and full-load services with scheduled general freight services across its national network.
"With 24 road branches throughout Australia, Toll NQX is well known for its breadth of service, especially to and from regional areas," Smith said.
"This acquisition enables us to strengthen our expertise in the specialised line of heavy haulage lift-and-shift services using company-owned equipment. It also adds to Toll Group's existing heavy haulage capabilities.
"Customers will now have the convenience of a one-stop-shop for heavy, awkward, time-sensitive and high-priority freight."
Toll NQX and Deeson have jointly serviced the general freight, heavy haulage and crane requirements for mining customers across the Bowen Basin, North Queensland and the Northern Territory for 15 years, as well as providing integrated lift and shift services to mining contractors, equipment manufacturers and engineering, procurement, construction and management companies.
Deeson operates an extensive fleet with on-highway capacity up to 200 tonnes as well as a fleet of mobile and crawler cranes.
The announcement of the takeover comes on the heels of Toll's decision to divest itself of a number of Australian and Asian assets.
