Technip Energies has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with yard infrastructure provider Young Chang Heavy Industry and heavy lift specialist Sarens to collaborate on floating offshore wind energy projects off South Korea.
The cooperation covers floating wind turbine marshalling and integration services, using Young Chang’s Shinan yard and Sarens’ capabilities in heavy lifting and engineered transport. The Shinan yard covers around 330,000 sq m and has a 310 m quay wall.
Willy Gauttier, vice president gloating offshore wind for Technip Energies, said: “We are pleased to join forces with Young Chang and Sarens for our floating wind projects in South Korea. The complementary nature of the three parties will enable us to offer our customers the possibility of integrating turbines on our floaters at Young Chang’s Shinan yard.”
Sarens’ managing director Carl Sarens added: “Our objective is to combine our strengths by bringing in Sarens’ expertise in offshore wind marshalling of foundations and wind turbine integration as well as local presence.”
