Taranto signs nine-year concession with Vestas

The port of Taranto, Italy, granted wind turbine OEM Vestas a nine-year licence to use the Taranto port platform.

The facility will be used to support production of wind turbine blade for Vestas’ V236, a 15 MW turbine. The blades will measure 115.5 m long.

“With this concession,” said Sergio Prete, president of the Port Network Authority of the Ionian Sea, “Vestas Blades Italia, by expanding its production capacity and presence in domestic and foreign markets, will consolidate the role of the port of Taranto as a hub for the logistics and export of wind turbine parts plants.”
