Samskip has established a subsidiary in Helsinki, Finland, which the company hopes will help to grow shortsea, inland, and freight forwarding volumes.
Atte Ingman will step up as country manager of the Finnish outfit, effective August 2. Ingman brings 30 years of experience representing European and Asian shipowners to the role.
Johan van der Pijl, regional director Baltics and Russia at Samskip, said that the opening of the office follows an increase in demand for efficient and reliable shortsea solutions.
‘’Customers can now benefit from our extensive multimodal one-stop-shop services to the UK, Ireland, Italy as well as to the Benelux while reducing their carbon footprint as part of our integrated network of shortsea, rail, barge and truck solutions.”
