Roll Group has formed a partnership with Laso Transportes’ branch in Mozambique.
The agreement will bring together Laso Mozambique’s fleet of land equipment with Roll Group’s maritime fleet; specialised project equipment such as cranes, SPMTs, and gantry and crawler cranes; as well as its engineering capacity.
Since September, Laso Mozambique and Roll Group have been able to offer both land and sea freight transport solutions. Miguel Matos Pinto, managing director of Laso Mozambique, said: “Laso has been present in Mozambique since 2012 and we have constantly expanded our capacity to offer logistics solutions, including transportation and handling of heavy and project cargo. We can now offer customers our experience and long presence in Mozambique, together with the capacity of Roll Group to offer complete factory to foundation solutions, even for the biggest modules. Roll’s dock ships and deck carriers, installation equipment and fleet of SPMTs, as well as their engineering capacity are a great match with Laso’s capabilities.”
Harmen Tiddens, one of Roll Africa’s directors, added: “With our partnership with Laso, we are further expanding Roll Group’s network of long-term dedicated partnerships in Africa with leading local players. This partnership offers unique value to companies working on projects in Mozambique; we can now provide ‘one-stop-shop’ heavy shipping, transportation and installation solutions.”
He noted that Laso has a solid fleet of transport equipment in country already at yards in Maputo, Pemba and Palma, run by a capable and experienced staff.
Roll Group enhanced its operations in Africa earlier this year with the appointment of Patrick van der Meide and Tiddens. The activities there include a network spanning the whole of the continent, working closely with selected local partners.
