Maersk Drilling and Maersk Supply Service have named their decommissioning joint venture, which was established in April 2018, Maersk Decom.
Lars Banke, who previously worked for Total has been named ceo of the company. Jens Klit Thomsen, previously from Maersk Supply Service, will step up as chief commercial officer. Maersk Decom has also appointed Carsten Sander as chief technology officer.
Since its establishment, Maersk Decom says it has received interest from operators in the North Sea - where more than 400 fields are expected to cease production by 2026 - as well as from the wider global market.
“Maersk Decom may be a new company, but it is built on the track record that both parent companies, Maersk Drilling and Maersk Supply Service, have already established within the field of decommissioning,” said Banke.
