The Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA) has appointed William Ng as its member engagement manager for Southeast Asia.
Ng spent nearly 10 years with Rigging and Marine Services in Singapore as sales manager, mainly dealing with load test and rigging jobs at shipyards. He then went on to work with lifesaving equipment, joining Survitec in Singapore as sales manager, dealing with distributors across the region and handling newbuild projects for fire systems.
He will be responsible for engaging with LEEA members in Southeast Asia and some countries in broader Asia, such as China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. He will also promote LEEA standards to the relevant companies and government agencies within the region.
“The lifting sector in Southeast Asia is spread across the offshore, marine, construction sectors, with the new energy industry becoming increasingly important. Among the issues that some of the countries that is facing is the variability of local legislation when it comes to providing clear guidelines, resulting in users or inspectors often having to follow international standards, such as ASME, BS EN or ISO,” he explained.
