Spain-headquartered logistics group Kaleido said it would invest EUR3.8 million (USD4.6 million) in sustainable initiatives.

In publishing its first annual sustainability report, Kaleido revealed plans to collaborate with like-minded entities and promote significant actions at an environmental, social and cultural level.

Kaleido said that, after 18 annual environmental statements, large-scale data analysis and hundreds of efficiency and impact measures, the company has managed to reduce its CO2 emissions by 50 percent in two years.

Maritime transport accounts for approximately 2.5 percent of global emissions into the atmosphere, Kaleido noted while adding that it will participate in global reference groups that develop impact measures to improve the behaviour of the world merchant fleet.

Kaleido pointed to a number of its other sustainability initiatives, which are not confined to environmental plans, such as the sponsorship of Vigo Rugby Club (Spain) for 25 years.

Regarding social and cultural projects, the company will invest a minimum of EUR1.8 million (USD2.2 million) in infrastructure for these purposes between 2021 and 2023. These investments will be focused on Angola and Spain.

Kaleido intends to establish a foundation this year to channel, coordinate and improve its environmental and sustainability programmes.
