Sapura Energy has awarded Jumbo a contract to transport and install a mooring system for a floating storage regasification unit (FSRU), as well as project management and engineering services, for the Porto de Sergipe project in Brazil.
The mooring system comprises an anchor base and a rotating yoke arm filled with water and barite ballast. Jumbo is also responsible for the transport and installation of the riser and umbilical.
As part of the contract, Jumbo will load the structures in Batam, Indonesia for transportation to the offshore site off the coast of Aracaju, where the Dutch company will complete the installation.
The work is expected to be completed by one of Jumbo’s offshore heavy lift vessels - Fairplayer or Jumbo Javelin - by December 31, 2018.
Roddy Lafontaine, vice president offshore at Jumbo, said: “In continuation of last year’s LNG projects such as Hilli in Cameroon and Moheshkhali in Bangladesh, this award enables Jumbo to again provide our unique FSRU installation solutions, this time in Brazil.”
The Porto de Sergipe project comprises a LNG terminal, a 6.5 km natural gas pipeline, a 1,516 MW combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plant, and a 33 km electricity transmission line.
