September 17 - Jan De Nul Group has acquired the offshore jack-up heavy lift crane vessel, Vidar, from Hochtief.
"With Vidar in our fleet we considerably extend our specialised services for the installation of offshore wind parks," said Peter De Pooter, manager, offshore renewable at Jan De Nul Group.
Vidar is 140 m long and equipped with four legs to lift itself above the sea level for stable working without wave impact. The vessel can install all kinds of foundations, as well as the latest generation of wind turbines, in water depths of up to 50 m.
Jan De Nul Group says that the investment in a jack-up installation vessel like Vidar is a logical step towards offering an all-in solution to the offshore market.
