Last week, more than 3,000 logistics professionals attended the inaugural AntwerpXL exhibition from May 7-9.

Event organiser, Easyfairs, said that the event attracted visitors from 59 countries. On the shipper side, delegates from Caterpillar, Solvay, Shell, Tata Steel, Siemens, ArcelorMittal and thyssenkrupp walked through the doors of Belgium’s Antwerp Expo.

The show featured over 100 exhibitors, said Easyfairs, adding that the response so far has been overwhelmingly positive.

Mark Rimmer, portfolio divisional director at Easyfairs, commented: “We couldn’t be more pleased with the way the launch event has gone. What has come across loud and clear is that everyone is thrilled to have a breakbulk event back in Antwerp.”

The exhibition’s conference programme brought together over 40 experts to cover key topics relevant to the breakbulk and heavy lift industries, including the impacts of trade wars and Brexit, as well as the advent of new technologies such as blockchain.

Looking to next year, Rimmer added: “It has been an amazing debut event and we can’t wait to welcome everyone back in 2020.”
