Pete Fletcher, co-owner and director of Osprey, passed away suddenly while on holiday in Martinique on February 5, aged 56.

Pete Fletcher OSprey

Pete Fletcher.

HLPFI was deeply saddened to learn of Pete’s passing.

His professional achievements were extensive. From transporting some of the world’s largest material handling equipment, he went on to support the construction of 24 offshore wind farms across Europe, spent many years working in the offshore oil and gas sectors in the North Sea and West Africa, and contributed to iconic projects such as the London Eye.

Pete was instrumental in reintroducing tugs and barges to the North East of the UK, reconnecting the offshore yards on the Tees and Tyne to domestic and international markets. This work helped advance modular construction techniques that have since transformed building methods across multiple sectors.

He had made the decision to retire from Osprey last year to dedicate more time to charitable work. His planned exit from the business had already been communicated internally and was being managed with clients and suppliers.

Pete leaves behind his wife, Gillian, and their two children, Jack and Megan.

His funeral will take place in Alnwick, Northumberland, UK, on Monday, March 31. Further details are available here

The announcement also includes a form to leave a message of condolence. Gillian, Jack, and Megan would be grateful to hear any memorable stories about Pete – especially those that reflect his love of life and sense of fun.

The service will also be live-streamed.
